Welcome to the Youth Ministry
Dear parent,
Hello, I want to personally welcome you and your son or daughter to the Youth Ministry. I do not take lightly the privilege God has given me by His grace to serve Him by leading this ministry. I have been serving as a Pastor in the Youth Ministry since 2015, and have served on staff in this ministry for about 11 years as I write this. I am married to my wife Jasmin who I met while serving in this ministry as a fellow leader, and we still have the joy to serve alongside each other today.
The mission of the Youth Ministry is to support you in training up your child in the way they should go. Therefore, we invest deeply into every Bible teaching, offer mentorship/discipleship with our leaders, create environments for students to build friendships, encourage students to deepen friendship into times of fellowship, and give opportunities to serve, worship, & share the Gospel.
In years past we held parent orientation meetings for promoting classes, most likely due to scheduling conflicts most were poorly attended. Therefore, I am now offering one-on-one orientations over the phone. I believe this will allow me to better answer the questions you have, and most importantly form a connection for the years ahead. To schedule this, simply email me some times that works best for you. My availability is Tues-Fri (9:30am - 4:00pm)
I look forward to meeting you and serving you & your child in the years ahead. - Joshua Terada
F.A.Q.
Here is a quick overview of a couple frequently asked questions that may be on your mind.
What are service’s like, and is there check-in & check out?
Sundays - Worship in the Youth Room > 15 minute small groups separated by grade and gender > 40 minute teaching in youth room. (Every other week, the Jr. High will have their teaching separate in the Jr. High room, but following the same sermon series)
Wednesday nights - Worship in youth room > game in Jr high room > 25 minute teaching in jr high room > small groups separated by grade & gender.
- Students are not checked in or walked out, we entrust parents and their students to coordinate this process. (Most families meet each other at the bottom of the stairs, and some walk up and meet them in the room.)
How do I find the event calendar & sign up for events?
We have designed our own app for Android and Apple phones & tablets. It has proven to be the best way for us to inform students & parents of the happenings in the ministry. Download it via App Store or Google Play. Download it here: ANDROID / APPLE
What’s the best way to go about plugging in my son/daughter?
Every student is different, so the best way is connect with me so we can help a custom game plan of sorts for your son/daughter. I grew up very sheltered, homeschooled and was very shy, so I know how difficult and scary this process can be. We can do this with an in-person meeting before or over the phone during the week. If you would like to setup a time, please email me at Josh.Terada@cc-ea.org.
Who are the volunteer leaders who serve in the ministry?
Each leader has gone through a thorough interview process with me personally, cleared with our Pastoral staff, and background check via livescan fingerprinting. It is of the utmost importance to me that our leadership team is made up of men & women who lives lives of faith, love, and integrity before the Lord to give our students examples worth following.
