JESUS LOVES YOUth <3

We are missionaries to Gen-Z

Generation Z is under attack from all sides, the Devil wants them but God loves them. In John 10, Jesus highlights that unlike the hired shepherd that runs away when he sees the sheep under attack, He doesn’t only go to save the sheep but also sacrifice His life for them. We are those called by God to follow His example in caring for youth God has gathered in the youth ministry. To sow the seed of the Gospel, faithfully water it with encouragement, correction and instruction, and to pray for the increase. We are not those who run away from the attack, but run to it with message & power of God.

  • It looks like being present, prayerful, and purposeful.

Leaders lead a small group of students (their same gender/age group) at a weekly or bi-weeky basis at a Sunday morning (9am/11am) or Wednesday (7pm) services. We also ask leaders to assist, participate, and provide supervision at one event a month (typically on Friday or Saturday evenings).

Youth leaders do a lot of praying for students and with them, leading Bible study discussions, doing behind the scene work and sometimes upfront as well (if they feel comfortable), and welcoming/engaging students in conversation.

  • Yes. There are high school leaders, junior high leaders, and parent chaperone leaders. The first two are pretty obvious in their area of responsibility, and the parent chaperones are parents who serve by transporting students and providing supervision (specifically at retreats) .

  • Our youth pastor is Joshua Terada who has served in the ministry since 2009. He is assisted by Pastor Darrell Chambers who has over a decade of youth pastoral ministry experience as well.

We have a team of about twenty leaders who come from all different backgrounds, different personalities & gifting and ages…but all with the same calling from God to love Him by loving His kids.

  • You must be 18 or older to apply. We have no age limit, just the ability and desire to serve our youth.

  • No. We believe that Youth Ministry is the bridge for students between Sunday school and the main sanctuary for our students. So, we prepare our students for adult church by exposing them to aspects of it through 30-45 minute teachings, congregational worship, and opportunities to volunteer. As a young peer ministry we do see it is very important to leverage our smaller group and make sure our students connect with each other and have fun, but by no means are those the defining qualities of the ministry.

  • Compare your life to what the Bible says is the standard of a leader in 1 Timothy 3:8-13. It’s not about how long you’ve been saved, but how deeply He has changed you.

  • Leadership in youth ministry is a serious commitment, however you can adjust your time commitment as well. Our pastors are understanding and experienced at working with schedules.
