Train Up!

“Train up a child in the way he should go.” -Proverbs 22:6a

One of the first things we do as parents is teach our kids right from wrong, good manners, how to share, how to treat others and much more! Here in Proverbs 22, Solomon writes, “Train up a child in the way he should go.” The book of Proverbs presents the “way” as the path of wisdom and life; now that definitely applies to our children. And “train up” also means “to dedicate” your child to the service of God. So we nurse, teach, and discipline him as God’s child, whom God has entrusted to our care. And we need God’s strength to accomplish this!

Parents Prayer: Dear Lord, give us the strength and wisdom to train up our children in Your way, and to not waver in this responsibility.
